Religion can allow a group or sect to collect funds as donations without taxation on the money, while also providing tax write-offs to donors, which can result in the same money being untaxed in multiple ways.
Intent summary: Argues that religious donation and tax-deduction structures can enable money to avoid taxation through multiple mechanisms.

True, but that’s the whole point of religious exemptions - we inherently tax them differently. It can be argued that some instances, where “the rich” use these religious exemptions as a tax shelter, do exist - however this does not represent the majority of religious-based organizations. I would argue the majority of religious groups and organizations are performing a net-positive service and the tax exemptions are fair and justified. That being said, when we identify specific cases of fraud and abuse, these should be addressed and resolved - megachurch pastors with personal helicopters, for instance lol.
Intent summary: Argue that while religious tax exemptions can be abused by some wealthy individuals, most religious organizations provide public benefit and abuses should be handled case-by-case.
